Coastal Plains Park was founded in April of 1973 as Coastal Plains Dragway by Mr. Troy Humphrey of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Throughout the years Mr. Humphrey continued to be a leading innovator in the motorsports community with an emphasis on safety and creating a family friendly environment. Coastal Plains Dragway expanded to include a new 4/10ths paved oval in 1999 along with bringing both local and regional sanctioned NASCAR events. In 2023 with son Ronnie at the helm, the facility expanded to include a total of 75 acers of land with a focus on bringing more family friendly events and expand the event portfolio to include concerts and festivals.
